Responsibilities in the area of asylum

Government

The government decides on the granting of Asylum Division. The government member responsible according to the allocation of responsibilities decides on the inadmissibility of an asylum application. The Ministry of the Interior is responsible for Asylum Division.

Migration and Passport Office

The Migration and Passport Office (APA) is fully responsible for the asylum procedure, from the asylum application to the organization of the execution of a removal order. In particular, it conducts Dublin and asylum procedures, carries out comprehensive investigations, prepares decisions for the government or the responsible member of government and keeps the relevant asylum statistics.

Liechtenstein Refugee Aid Association

In accordance with the service agreement with the government, the Liechtenstein Refugee Aid Association is responsible for the accommodation and care of asylum seekers, temporarily admitted persons and persons in need of protection

After submitting an application for asylum, the persons concerned are assigned to the reception center. The Migration and Passport Office (APA) then subjects each asylum application to a careful and individual examination.
