Field of activity

Depending on specialist training, the field of activity includes carrying out medical analytical laboratory tests in hematology, clinical chemistry, clinical immunology, medical microbiology and medical genetics.

Professional aptitude/further training

Professional aptitude is possessed by anyone who has successfully completed a university degree in medicine, pharmacy, chemistry or biology and can provide evidence of further training in haematology, clinical chemistry, clinical immunology, medical microbiology or medical genetics or equivalent further training recognized by the Swiss Association of Heads of Medical Analytical Laboratories (FAMH). The government decides on equivalence.

Special features

The license holder is obliged to report laboratory results that indicate notifiable diseases to the Office of Public Health.

Authorization procedure and requirements

In accordance with Health Act Art. 7 ff and Health Ordinance Art. 46 to 48.
