Europe Days of the Monument
The Monument Days have their origins in France, where a "Journée Portes ouvertes des Monuments historiques" was held for the first time in 1984. The idea was successfully adopted by the Benelux countries and since 1991 the Monument Days have been a cultural commitment of the Council of Europe. Since 1993, the European Heritage Days have also been held in the Principality of Liechtenstein. In the meantime, around 50 countries participate in the campaign, so that every year in September over 800 million Europeans have the opportunity to visit over 30,000 monuments, ensembles and other cultural properties that are not normally accessible to the public.
The aim of this event is to make monuments accessible to a wider public, to show historical and architectural background and to draw attention to problems of use and preservation. At the same time, the day offers the opportunity to get to know the "Conservation of Historic Monuments", their cultural-political mission as well as their work and offer.
The European Heritage Days represent an essential national as well as Europe-wide campaign to raise public awareness of the values of their own culture. At the same time, the campaign aims to draw attention to the essential importance of European cultural policy. It is precisely within the European framework that cultural identity and distinctiveness also create the basis for a peaceful, solidary and cooperative further development of the European idea, which finds its roots not least in occidental culture.

"Construction site open day: Hagenhaus Nendeln"
Saturday, September 2, 2023, 11.30 a.m.- 5.00 p.m.
The classicist double dwelling house from 1837 with adjacent large stable barn and wash house is currently being repaired and supplemented by a new courtyard house and will offer the International Music Academy Liechtenstein a new place to develop in the future from 2024. The construction site is open for viewing on Monument Day.
