Universal fixed network telephone service

Telecom Liechtenstein AG is the provider of universal service for electronic communications at fixed locations in the Principality of Liechtenstein. This universal service mandate ends on 28 February 2019. The universal service is to remain guaranteed after 2019.

The procedure for designating one or more companies as universal service providers according to the Communications Act envisages, as a first procedural step, a public consultation to be held by the regulatory body regarding the detailed division of tasks in universal service and the provision of universal services.

Following the public consultation in question, the Government will define a provision concept within the meaning of the Communications Act and publish it in appropriate manner.

With this in mind, the Office for Communications (AK) has conducted a review of the scope of universal service and prepared a proposal for the adjustment of minimum requirements.

Should you be interested in commenting on the planned adjustments to the minimum requirements, we look forward to receiving your statement by 20 October 2018. Statements may be submitted either in writing to the

Amt für Kommunikation

Postfach 684

or (preferably) sent as a scan by e-mail to info.ak@llv.li.

According to Art. 46 of the Communications Act, not only service providers but also affected interested parties or the general public have the opportunity to submit commenting statements as part of the consultation.

In due course, information will be provided on the outcome of the consultation and on the further course of the procedure. Please note that statements submitted as part of the consultation will be published. If your statements contain company and/or business secrets, we request that you submit them in a separate document and, at the same time, submit a document that can be published on the website.

The consultation document with further information can be found here.
