Competition Law

The Bureau of Competition Policy within the Office of Economic Affairs assesses requests, market information or complaints regarding national or international competition law. In addition, the Office of Economic Affairs participates in the EFTA Working Group of Competition Policy and in the European Competition Network (ECN).

According to Article 2 para. 1 of the Law of 23 May 1996 on the implementation of the competition rules in the European Economic Area (LR 172.013), the Office of Economic Affairs is responsible for the implementation of the EEA competition rules in Liechtenstein, unless the competence of the courts is given. In this context, it is entrusted with the assistance of the EFTA Surveillance Authority and/or the EU Commission.

Liechtenstein has no national merger control or antitrust law.
