Traveling with pets
Have you decided to travel to another country with your pet? Then you should check which documents, examinations and vaccinations are required for the country in question when planning your trip.
Comprehensive information on traveling with pets can be found at the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO).
As a rule, a pet passport containing the following entries is sufficient for border crossings to and between EU countries:
- clear identification of the dog, cat or ferret
- Entry of the vaccinations against rabies in accordance with the regulations and
- if necessary, further findings and certificates
Due to the large number of different entry requirements, the applicable regulations must be checked with the embassy, consulate or veterinary authorities of the country of destination in good time.
Do you need an export certificate from the ALKVW? As these certificates only have a limited period of validity and an examination of your pet is necessary, we recommend that you contact us in good time when you start planning your trip.
