Central Register of Accounts (ZKR)

As part of the fight against money laundering, organized crime, and terrorist financing, the central register of accounts serves to identify all natural and legal persons who hold or control a payment or bank account or safe deposit box with a Liechtenstein bank or investment firm. For this purpose, banks and investment firms must transmit the required data (including IBAN, information on the identity of the account holder or authorized person, as well as any beneficial owners) to the Register of Accounts on an ongoing basis by electronic means.

In individual cases, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and the Financial Market Authority (FMA) Liechtenstein shall be provided with information from the central Register of Accounts insofar as this is necessary for the purpose of combating money laundering, organized crime and terrorist financing. The law does not provide for any other persons entitled to information.

For further information, please refer to the provisions of Art. 29e et seq. DDA and the Ordinance on the Central Register of Accounts (ZKRV).

In addition, the Office of Justice has issued processing regulations for the ZKR, which contain, among other things, information on data transmission, data processing and data security.
