Information and Communications Unit of the Government

The Information and Communications Unit of the Government (Information und Kommunikation der Regierung, IKR) is a unit of the Office of the Government Chancellery, assigned organisationally to the Ministry of General Government Affairs and Finance. Its core responsibility is governmental communication. Tasks include providing communication support for government business, assisting with project communication, providing content for media enquiries and drafting of various texts (e.g. media releases, language regulations, etc.). The IKR also monitors international media coverage of the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Other tasks are more organisational, including the organisation of media conferences, planning of photo sessions, preparation of schedules for the media, dispatch of media releases, and administration of the National Television Channel and the Government website.

The Office of the Government Chancellery performs all responsibilities relating to the political rights of the people, including elections and referendums. In this context, the IKR is responsible for maintaining the website www.abstimmung.li , where the results of referendums and various background information are published. The IKR also manages the websites www.gemeindewahlen.li (local elections) and www.landtagswahlen.li (parliamentary elections). For elections and referendums, the IKR is responsible for live reporting and the broadcasting of these programmes on the National Television Channel.
