Mobile network measurements 2025
In October 2025, independent mobile network measurements focusing on the so-called "user experience" were carried out for the first time. The aim of this measurement campaign was to assess the network quality as actually perceived by users, thereby providing a complementary perspective to traditional network coverage and performance data.
The measurements were carried out across the whole country over a period of five days. They were conducted simultaneously for all three mobile network operators in Liechtenstein, thereby ensuring that the measurements were fundamentally comparable. The methodology, measurement criteria and procedure were based on internationally established standards for mobile network measurements.
The focus was on realistic usage scenarios such as data transfers, establishing voice connections, and the general usability of mobile services in everyday life.
As this was the first time the campaign had been carried out, it was deliberately designed as a pilot project. The findings will be used in particular to
- assess the quality of mobile phone coverage in general,
- further develop the methodology and measurement design,
- refine suitable evaluation criteria, and
- make targeted improvements to future measurement campaigns.
As this initial implementation focuses primarily on methodological classification, the measurement data in the summary report is not presented on a site-specific basis, but is summarised in the form of a range of values that illustrates the spread of the measured results from the lowest to the highest value.
