"Jugend und Musik" (J+M)
Since the beginning of 2019, the "Jugend und Musik" (J+M) program has supplemented the existing range of music education in Liechtenstein as well. An agreement with Switzerland guarantees the population in Liechtenstein access to the program on an equal footing with the Swiss. The goal of the program is to promote the musical education of children and young people. The possible inclusion of Liechtenstein was foreseen from the beginning. The agreement was signed on May 25, 2018, by Minister Aurelia Frick and Federal President Alain Berset.
J+M is designed as a broad-based support program and aims to lead as many children and young people as possible to musical activity. The range of support includes music courses and music camps for children and young people as well as the training and further education of J+M leaders. The offers of schools, music schools and music organizations are supplemented in this way and an even better access to musical offers for children and young people is made possible.
The offer of the J+M program is open to all interested parties from Liechtenstein since February 13, 2019. Registrations are accepted by the enforcement office for the program in Bern. However, it is also possible to register with the relevant office in Liechtenstein. Located at the Office of Cultural Affairs, Division Cultural activities.
Further information on J+M can be found here.
From 1 July 2025, a new EDI (Federal Department of Home Affairs) ordinance on the funding concept for the “Jugend und Musik” program will come into force, which will also apply to Liechtenstein from this date. The ordinance contains a number of significant changes and, among other things, opens up admission to training to cross-border commuters.
