Career Preparation

Preparation for career choice begins in the first grade of high school and junior high school. Students in the upper and middle schools evaluate their own needs, abilities and skills in comparison with the requirements and characteristics of the professional world. This gives them the ability to plan their further education and entry into the world of work. They should also recognize that gainful employment and leisure activities complement each other and are essential parts of a positive way of life.

During career choice preparation, teachers are sensitized to break the coupling of occupations with gender roles and to map out possible alternatives. In order for the students to be able to manage the transition to the professional world in the best possible way, it is above all a matter of promoting their action skills.

Teachers seek collaboration between all stakeholders, students, parents, master teachers and career counseling. In order for there to be an ongoing and consistent examination of the students' career choices, parents in particular are involved at an early stage. Cooperation with the career counseling service takes place primarily in the third and fourth grades. The teachers coordinate the planning and implementation of activities such as information events, brief counseling sessions, and individual counseling sessions with the career counseling service.
