On 8–9 July 2025, Prime Minister Brigitte Haas travelled to Vienna for her inaugural visit. During her stay, she held working meetings with Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker and Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer. The programme also included a dinner with the Board of LLB Austria and media engagements with the Austria Press Agency (APA).
The relationship between Liechtenstein and Austria is founded on neighbourly ties, shared European values, mutual trust, close cooperation, and a joint vision for the future development of the region. The inaugural visit underscored the close partnership and deep connection between Austria and Liechtenstein.
Discussions with Federal Chancellor Stocker centred on European policy, in particular Liechtenstein’s 30 years of membership in the European Economic Area. The talks also addressed U.S. trade policy and its implications for global trade. Bilateral exchanges focused on current security challenges, the consequences of the war in Ukraine, and the potential for enhanced cooperation in the area of security. Prime Minister Haas and Federal Chancellor Stocker agreed to further deepen bilateral relations and to maintain close coordination on European issues.
In her meeting with Finance Minister Marterbauer, Prime Minister Haas exchanged views on economic and financial market matters, including the current economic situation in both countries. Key topics also included the EU’s efforts to reduce bureaucracy—particularly the omnibus packages—alongside Liechtenstein’s accession to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the commitment to mutual support.
