Below, the Office for Forestry, Nature, and Agriculture, as the data controller pursuant to Articles 13 and 14 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), provides information on the manner and purpose of the processing of your personal data in connection with our activities. The following information applies equally to farmers, hunters, business owners, private individuals, and other persons affected by data processing.

The primary purpose of processing personal data is to fulfill the statutory mandate entrusted to us. This includes providing general advice as well as approving facilities and various interventions in nature and the environment of any kind. 

We primarily carry out the following data processing activities:

• Issuing permits for various facilities or interventions in nature and the environment 
• Drafting regulations implementing laws on the protection of nature and the environment
• Disbursement of subsidies or other grants in the areas of Agriculture, Nature and Environmental Protection, and Forestry
• Monitoring compliance with legal requirements in the areas of nature and Environmental Protection as well as Agriculture  
• Issuing hunting licenses

The legal basis for these processing activities is set forth in the provisions of the individual special laws on the protection of nature and the environment, in each case in conjunction with Art. 6(1)(e) of the GDPR. These include, in particular, the provisions concerning Environmental Protection, nature and landscape conservation, water protection, forest conservation, Hunting, fishing, species protection, soil conservation, the handling of organisms, and climate protection. In addition, the Customs Treaty as well as EU directives and regulations apply. If personal data is not processed on the basis of a public mandate, the legal basis in individual cases is your consent pursuant to Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR. For processing activities related to the issuance of hunting licenses, Article 6(1)(e) in conjunction with Article 10 of the GDPR and Article 21(1)(b)(2) of the Data Protection Act also apply.

The following personal data is collected, recorded, and processed in the course of our activities:

• For natural persons: last name, first name, address, mailing address, phone number, and email address. For the issuance of hunting licenses, data regarding criminal convictions and health data are also processed.  
• For legal entities: company address, email address, NOGA number, contact information for designated representatives, number of employees.

Unless the data is collected directly from you, the personal data is obtained from the following sources: Central Master Data of the Principality of Liechtenstein (ZSD), Land Register Division.

The Office for Forestry, Nature, and Agriculture transfers your data to the Offices tasked with conducting inspections and other procedures, which require this data to fulfill their duties in accordance with the aforementioned legal bases.

The transfer of personal data to Switzerland, as a third country, is based on the Customs Agreement. The European Commission has certified that Switzerland maintains an adequate level of data protection in accordance with Article 45 of the GDPR.

The retention period for data processing is governed by specific statutory provisions regarding retention periods and the Archives Act. Once the purpose of data processing has been achieved and no statutory retention periods prevent the destruction of your data, the personal data will be subject to the applicable data deletion policies.
