Prime Minister Brigitte Haas and Deputy Head of Government Sabine Monauni visit Vienna

On the occasion of the visit by Prime Minister Brigitte Haas and Deputy Head of Government Sabine Monauni on Thursday, September 11 and Friday, September 12, 2025, the new Liechtenstein Ambassador in Vienna, Simon Biedermann, hosted an exchange with experts on the topic of "security". Cooperation with Austria and other international partners is of particular interest to Liechtenstein.

On Thursday evening, September 11, 2025, the traditional Liechtenstein Reception took place at the Liechtenstein Garden Palace, which serves to cultivate relations with politicians, business leaders, the media, representatives of public life, diplomats and senior civil servants. The Liechtenstein Reception is the most important and comprehensive annual networking event for Liechtenstein in Austria. The reception was attended by the State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, Sepp Schellhorn, the new Governor of the Austrian National Bank, Martin Kocher, the Secretary General of the OSCE, Feridun H. Sinirlioglu, ambassadors from numerous countries, members of the Austrian National Council, representatives of senior civil servants and the media. Manfred Kaufmann, President of the Liechtenstein Parliament, as well as the members of the Parliamentary Presidium, Prime Minister Brigitte Haas, Deputy Prime Minister Sabine Monauni and employees of the Liechtenstein administration attended the reception. 

During her stay in Vienna, an exchange also took place between Finance Minister Brigitte Haas and Fiscal Council President Christoph Badelt, who is responsible for the independent monitoring of Austrian fiscal policy and compliance with fiscal rules. Topics such as current developments in the national budget and the challenges facing the financial center were discussed. The visit to Vienna was also used for a first meeting with the new Governor of the Austrian National Bank, Martin Kocher. Cooperation within the IMF and in European bodies such as the European Financial Market Supervisory System were the main topics of discussion.

On Friday, September 12, the Prime Minister traveled to Lednice and Valtice due to the close historical ties between Liechtenstein and the Czech Republic in order to gain a first-hand impression of the Liechtenstein family's intensive activities in South Moravia.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture Sabine Monauni met Christoph Thun-Hohenstein, former Head of the Section for International Cultural Affairs at the Austrian Foreign Ministry, with whom she discussed the topic of digital humanism. This means designing and using digital technologies in such a way that they protect and promote people's creative freedom, dignity and expressiveness, including in art. The Minister of Culture also visited the Albertina Museum in Vienna, where she was given a guided tour of the collections and current exhibitions.
