Consumer prices fell by 0.1% in January
The national consumer price index (CPI) fell by 0.1% in January 2026 compared to the previous month, reaching 99.9 points (December 2025 = 100). Compared to the same month of the previous year, inflation was +0.1%. These are the figures from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO). The Swiss consumer price index is published monthly by the Office of Statistics for Liechtenstein.
The decline of 0.1% compared to the previous month is due to various factors, including lower prices for electricity and the para-hotel industry. Prices for air transportation and clothing and shoes, which were reduced as part of the clearance sale, also fell. By contrast, prices in the hotel industry and for package tours abroad have risen, as have premiums for motor vehicle insurance.
