At its meeting on March 11, 2025, the government took note of the statistics on the award of public works, supply and service contracts by the Principality of Liechtenstein for the year 2024. in 2024, the Specialized Unit for Public Procurement recorded a total of 376 contract awards with a total volume of 107 million Swiss francs. 80% of the contracts awarded by the country went to Liechtenstein tenderers. Of the remaining 20%, the majority of contracts were awarded to tenderers from Switzerland. 131 contracts were put out to international tender due to costs exceeding the EEA/WTO thresholds.
National tenders
Almost 97% of the national tenders for construction contracts were awarded to tenderers from Liechtenstein. The remaining 3% of construction contracts were awarded to bidders from Switzerland, Belgium and the USA. In the area of supply contracts, tenderers from Liechtenstein were awarded almost 80% of the contracts. The remaining 20% of supply contracts were awarded to bidders from Switzerland. The majority of service contracts also remained in Liechtenstein in 2024. 75% of the contracts were awarded to Liechtenstein tenderers. The remaining 25% of service contracts were awarded to tenderers from Switzerland (23%), Austria (1%), the Netherlands and the USA.
International Affairs tenders
In the area of international tenders (above the EEA/WTO thresholds), a total of 131 contract awards were recorded by the Specialized Unit for Public Procurement in 2024. This category includes construction projects with a construction contract value of more than CHF 5,573,777 as well as supply and service contracts with individual contract values exceeding the total value of CHF 143,923. Almost 95% of the 50 construction contracts were awarded to Liechtenstein tenderers and 5% to Swiss tenderers. Of the nine supply contracts, 68% were awarded to Swiss tenderers, 31% to Austrian tenderers and 2% to Liechtenstein tenderers. In the case of service contracts in the International Affairs sector, 72 contracts were awarded to tenderers from Liechtenstein (47%), Switzerland (31%), Ireland (14%), Iceland (4%), Austria (2%), Germany (2%) and the USA (0.3%).
