Children of Liechtenstein fathers born out of wedlock

According to the Law of 12 March 1998 concerning the amendment of the Law on the Acquisition and Loss of National Citizenship (LGBl. 1998 No. 75 Art. 4), national citizenship is inherent in children by birth if the father or mother are Liechtenstein nationals.

For registration at the Liechtenstein Civil Registry Office, an birth certificate of the child born out of wedlock and, in the case of a child born out of wedlock to a Liechtenstein father, a court-ordered acknowledgment of paternity in the original are required. These documents can be handed in personally at the Liechtenstein Civil Registry Office or also sent by mail (registered mail).
