Fire protection - quality assurance

New construction and structural or utility modifications to all structures and facilities are categorized by quality assurance levels.

Fire protection concepts include protection concepts consisting of coordinated structural, technical and organizational measures. Fire protection must be included in the overall planning for all new buildings, conversions and changes of use, regardless of the type. The fire protection plans are to be submitted in 4 copies - signed by the planner and the building owner at the time of the building application.

When planning and executing extensive or complex construction projects, early contact and coordination with the Office of Building Construction and Regional Planning (AHR), Department of Building Law and Fire Protection, is advisable. The Office for Structural Engineering and Spatial Planning, as the responsible fire protection authority, generally requires the involvement of a QA officer (fire protection expert) for QSS 2 buildings and facilities, and the involvement of a QA officer (fire protection expert) is mandatory for QSS 3 and higher.

The AHR monitors compliance with the fire protection regulations and checks the fire protection-relevant concepts and evidence for completeness, comprehensibility and plausibility. It does not elaborate relevant concepts and, in questions of execution details, usually communicates with the QA officer appointed by the client. At the end of the project, the declaration of conformity for fire protection must then be submitted.
