Children of Liechtenstein mothers (StGH 1996/36)

According to the Law of 20 June 1996 on the Amendment of the Law on the Acquisition and Loss of National Citizenship (LGBl. 1996 No. 124 Art. 4), national citizenship is inherent in children born in wedlock by birth if the father or mother are Liechtenstein citizens. Children born in wedlock are to be considered equal to children born out of wedlock of Liechtenstein citizens who are considered to be born in wedlock by removal of the impediment to marriage or by the blameless ignorance of the spouses, and those who are born in wedlock by subsequent marriage or legitimized by favoritism of the sovereign.

Please be sure to contact the Liechtenstein Civil Registry Office personally to clarify whether naturalization of "children of Liechtenstein mothers" is possible based on State Court decision 1996/36. Each case must be clarified individually and depending on the country of origin, sometimes different documents must be presented in the original at the Liechtenstein Civil Registry Office.
