In the area of road safety, considerable improvements have been achieved over the past decades through targeted measures (on the vehicle side, on the road infrastructure side and in terms of traffic organization). Despite a sharp increase in traffic volume, the number of traffic fatalities has fallen and the number of people injured in traffic accidents has also declined slightly. In relation to the sharp increase in traffic volume, road safety has been greatly improved over the past decades.
