Mountain area rehabilitation (BGS)

purpose

The purpose of the integral mountain area redevelopment is the sustainable development of the Liechtenstein Alpine area, taking into account and coordinating the interests of all landowners and landscape users. In doing so, it promotes projects in the areas of alpine economy, forestry, natural hazards, leisure and recreation, and settlement development within a defined perimeter.

Tasks

  • The BGS is responsible for the planning, project planning and implementation of measures for the conservation and development of the mountain area. These include:
  • effective protection against avalanches, rockfall, landslides and landslides;
  • the preservation and promotion of a contemporary alpine economy;
  • diverse forests that fulfill their functions sustainably and without restriction;  
  • an appropriate development of the alpine region with roads and trails;
  • a nature-compatible development of traditional and new recreational activities.

Organization

A 3-member expert group consisting of specialists in natural hazards, alpine and forestry, and nature and landscape conservation works interdisciplinary on the upcoming issues of factual policy, strategic and organizational nature.

The legal basis for the BGS is the Ordinance on the Conservation and Development of Mountain Areas.
