Reachability of Liechtenstein from abroad

Small states such as Liechtenstein, which has its own country code, can sometimes not be reached from individual foreign networks or countries. This may be a temporary disruption or may affect only a subset of the Liechtenstein numbering plan, e.g., only mobile numbers. Please note that the foreign operator is primarily responsible for reachability, since they must implement the numbers to be reached in their system. The causes of error vary greatly and depend on many external factors.

In general, the main aim is to achieve the best possible reachability of all numbers in the Liechtenstein numbering plan. General restrictions for short numbers (1x) and service numbers (8x, 9x) are possible, since the operator of the respective service desires national reachability only.

When calling from foreign company or hotel telephone sets, it may happen that certain destinations such as Liechtenstein have been blocked by the company or hotel and can only be reached via a direct exchange operator. In some hotels, the country code of Liechtenstein is still indicated as the Swiss country code 0041 75 xy for historical reasons. Please ignore this and always dial 00423 xxx xxxx.

If you notice a permanent unreachability from a foreign network, the Office for Communications asks for your support. In these cases, please identify the applicable scenario:

The Office for Communications asks affected users to quickly inform the local operator in writing or verbally about where the (unsuccessful) call was made from. Generally, the operator is responsible for successful forwarding (routing) of calls to Liechtenstein.

You can also contact the Office for Communications. In order to be able to initiate a remedy for the cause of the error, the following details are required:

• date / time
• city / province / country
• caller's phone number (foreign number or Liechtenstein mobile number)
• phone number of call recipient (domestic number 00423x)
• name of the foreign service provider (operator) from where the call was made (mobile or fixed network)
• short description
