Foundation: foreign nationals
In principle, persons with foreign citizenship can be self-employed in Liechtenstein. The possibilities vary depending on the country of origin When establishing a business, a business registration or business license is required respectively a special legal permit.
Persons from the EU/EFTA area
All persons with a passport from an EEA/EFTA country can apply for a business license or registration of a trade.
Persons from third countries
Whoever belongs to a third country, such as the USA or Russia, must have resided continuously in Liechtenstein for at least 5 years in order to be able to apply for a business license or registration of a trade.
