The School Psychology Service (SPD) is the Office of Education’s counseling center for psychological issues, particularly in the areas of developmental psychology, neurodiversity, mental health, participation, and inclusion. In school psychology, the child’s well-being is always the top priority. The SPD becomes involved as soon as specialized psychological expertise is needed at a school. It takes a systemic, resource-oriented approach and operates according to scientific principles. Access to school psychological counseling is low-threshold,voluntary, and free of charge. All four school psychologists have specialized knowledge in child and adolescent psychology and are available to anyone who , due to
challenges at school or at home.

Contacting them is straightforward—by phone, email, or Teams. During the subsequent consultation to clarify the scope of the assignment, the next steps in the counseling process are planned together. Following prior consultation with those involved, the SPD also conducts psychological testing as needed, particularly in cases of possible learning disabilities or specific learning difficulties. The SPD is committed to a school that promotes strengths and diversity—an innovative and inclusive school where children, adolescents, and even adults feel comfortable and can develop healthily.

The School Psychology Service is a specialized psychological institution affiliated with the Office of Education that supports schools in fulfilling their educational and instructional mission. It operates in accordance with scientific methods and findings and assists schools with psychological matters.

Employees of the School Psychological Service are bound by a duty of confidentiality. This does not apply to information that serves as a basis for decision-making by the Office of Education when approving measures and/or that assists teachers in preparing, conducting, or evaluating instruction. Obligations to report under the Children and Youth Act remain reserved.
