The Didactic Media Center is the Educational Documentation and Media Center of the Principality of Liechtenstein. It supplies Liechtenstein schools, kindergartens, and other educational institutions with selected audiovisual and interactive educational media, teaching materials, and practical school-related literature, as well as various devices for use in the educational sector. It also offers relevant consulting services.

Tasks in Detail

• Providing and lending a comprehensive and up-to-date selection of media resources along with accompanying materials;
• Maintaining, updating, and expanding the media collection;
• Providing media education, pedagogical consulting, and training for teachers;
• Promoting information technology education and understanding of new information and communication technologies, as well as providing guidance on their effective use;
• Providing technical advice on media, particularly regarding the purchase and use of various devices;
• Lending out equipment.

Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Official Educational Materials Publisher is responsible for the procurement and distribution of all educational materials used in Liechtenstein schools. The Office of Education determines which educational materials are required and approved. In addition, the Educational Materials Publisher distributes certain country-specific educational materials and oversees projects for their development and production.

The “Center for School Media” is primarily responsible for the voluntary, individualized continuing education program for teachers and school staff. The School IT Coordinator (SIK) serves as a coordinator and liaison between the schools, the Office of Education, and the Office of Information Technology. The responsibilities of the School IT Coordinator include managing communication and learning platforms, evaluating and approving software, managing licenses, budgeting and accounting for school IT, and implementing and operating digital media in schools. The Office of Information Technology is responsible for the technical operation of digital devices in schools.

The Educational Media Mentor (PMM) provides support to the Office of Education, the schools, and the Office of Information Technology. The PMM’s responsibilities include providing pedagogical support to teachers at schools, supervising and training educational media coordinators, implementing media-based teaching projects, serving as a course instructor, participating in the DMS, and evaluating and approving software and apps. In addition, the PMM leads and participates in various working groups and networks.
