The award ceremony took place during the annual High Security Printing (HSP) Summit in Rabat (Morocco), which was attended by leading security printers, government representatives and specialists in security printing and identity documents. The expert jury particularly emphasized the high quality of the integrated security features, the contemporary design and the consistent implementation of International Affairs standards.

The award confirms the technical quality of the new Liechtenstein passport and shows that a modern, user-friendly identity document has been created that offers clear added value for the population. Especially for a small country, the development of a technologically leading passport is a special achievement and underlines Liechtenstein's claim to meet international quality standards in security-relevant areas.

The new passport has a range of advanced security features, including optically variable elements, micro-technical printing techniques and seamless integration of biometric data. The design combines modern aesthetics with identity elements that reflect the diversity of Liechtenstein.

With the HSP Award "Best New Passport 2026", Liechtenstein joins the group of countries that have achieved international recognition in the field of modern identity documents. The prize is one of the most important awards in security printing and is awarded annually for innovations that increase counterfeit protection and meet International Affairs requirements for travel documents.

Markus Biedermann, Head of the Migration and Passport Office, was also able to present the successful modernization of the passport personalization and issuance process to the expert audience. He was able to show how the Liechtenstein National Administration combines technology and organization to provide an efficient, secure and fast service for both customers and the administration.
