Local democracy thrives on participation, including that of young people. The Council of Eu-rope offers dedicated young adults from Liechtenstein the opportunity to participate as youth delegates at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities. In Strasbourg they will meet political decision-makers from all over Europe, contribute their views, and implement their own projects to promote youth participation. The Congress of the Council of Europe is an advisory body of local and regional elected representatives and represents over 130’000 local authorities in 46 countries. It promotes democracy, good governance, and the values of the Council of Europe throughout Europe. Youth delegates take part in two meetings lasting several days in Strasbourg, raise issues relevant to young people, and work together with delegates from all over Europe.
Who can apply?
· Young people between the ages of 18 and 30
· Interest in politics, democracy, human rights and the rule of law
· Good English skills
· Liechtenstein citizenship
What can you expect?
· Participation in two Congress sessions in Strasbourg, from 28 March to 2 April and 24 to 29 October 2026
· Co-development of your own projects on youth participation
· Opportunity to participate in other Council of Europe events
· Exchange with delegates and youth delegates from Europe
Travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the Council of Europe.
