Last Saturday, February 22, 2025, the school championships in Eschen and Vaduz drew large crowds. Under the motto of Schulsport Liechtenstein "Education needs movement", around 120 pupils from various municipalities showed off their sporting skills in front of packed grandstands.

In the morning, the focus was on the mat handball championships for primary school pupils, while in the afternoon, secondary school pupils impressed with their dance and acrobatic performances at "Showtime".

Successful cooperation at mat handball tournament

In collaboration with HC Buchs-Vaduz and the Liechtenstein Handball Association, Schulsport Liechtenstein organized the annual mat handball tournament at the Unterland school centre in Eschen. The primary school pupils from the 4th and 5th grades played thrilling matches at a high level and thrilled the audience.

Thanks to the excellent preparation by the teachers, the teams were well prepared for the tournament. The sporting skills - throwing, catching and jumping - were demonstrated in an impressive manner. From the very first minute of the game, the young athletes showed great commitment and made for exciting encounters. Particularly pleasing was the fair behavior on the pitch, which further strengthened the team spirit.

In the thrilling Balzner final, the "7 Sportskanonen" prevailed against the "Pföhstürmer".

In addition to the competition, the focus was on the joy of handball. The close cooperation between the schools, HC Buchs-Vaduz and the Liechtenstein Handball Association underlines the importance of handball in the region and helps to promote young talent.

Showtime: dance and acrobatics in the spotlight

This special event, which takes place every two years, focuses on creative artistic and acrobatic movement to music.

"Showtime" offers all pupils at secondary level I the opportunity to present the dance and acrobatic choreographies they have rehearsed in PE lessons to a large audience. The anticipation for the event at the Mühleholz II school center was correspondingly high.

The five groups from Liechtensteinisches Gymnasium, Realschule Eschen and Realschule Balzers performed spectacular acrobatic elements and danced to trendy music. The numerous spectators rewarded the performances with loud applause. A special highlight was the fantastic dance performance by Tanzclub Liechtenstein, which rounded off the event perfectly.

The organizers and Schulsport Liechtenstein are extremely positive about the two events and are already looking forward to the next ones.
