At the end of 2022, a total of 42,514 people were employed in Liechtenstein, an increase of 2.8% compared to the previous year. At 57%, significantly more than half of employees commute to their workplace in Liechtenstein from abroad, with 60% of them being resident in Switzerland, 36% resident in Austria and 4% resident in another country. With a share of 51%, around half of employees are employed in the municipalities of Schaan or Vaduz.
At the end of 2022, a total of 45,274 full-time and part-time jobs were recorded in Liechtenstein, which corresponds to an increase of 3.0% compared to the 43,948 jobs at the end of 2021. At the same time, 5,426 companies were counted in Liechtenstein, 2.5% more than in the previous year.
