As at December 31, 2023, Liechtenstein's permanent population comprised 40,015 people, with women accounting for 50.4%. Within a year, the foreign permanent population increased by 87 people to 13,721. The number of Liechtenstein residents with Liechtenstein citizenship grew by 251 to 26,294 in the same period. As a result, the proportion of foreigners fell from 34.4% to 34.3% within a year.

As at December 31, 2023, 20,786 people of Liechtenstein's permanent population were employed, which corresponds to an increase of 0.4% compared to the previous year. 72.2% of the employed permanent population worked in sector 3 Services, 26.8% in sector 2 Industry and 1.0% in sector 1 Agriculture.
