The Office of Statistics has published the Financial Statistics 2022. They provide an overview of the financial situation of the government sector (state level, municipal level and public social security funds).

In 2022, the government surplus (positive net lending) amounted to 3.3% of gross domestic product (GDP) or CHF 232.6 million. Consolidated government expenditure in 2022 increased by 1.3% or CHF 19.4 million compared to the previous year, while consolidated government revenue rose by 4.5% or CHF 75.3 million. The government ratio (government expenditure in relation to GDP) increased from 21.1% in 2021 to 21.4% in 2022.
