The Office of Statistics has published the Financial Statistics 2024. They provide an overview of the financial situation of the state sector (national level, municipal level and public social security funds).
In 2024, the government surplus (positive financing balance) amounted to 2.8% of gross domestic product (GDP) or CHF 219.1 million. Consolidated government expenditure in 2024 increased by 6.0% or CHF 95.6 million compared to the previous year. After rising for three consecutive years, consolidated government revenue fell again slightly by 0.6% or CHF 10.7 million. The government ratio (government expenditure in relation to GDP) remained unchanged at 21.6% in 2024 compared to the previous year.
