Emergency aid for people affected by conflict and climate change in Chad

Liechtenstein is supporting the humanitarian work of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Chad with a contribution of CHF 100,000.

The humanitarian situation in Chad remains extremely critical in 2024. Over 2.1 million people are affected by food insecurity and one in three children suffers from malnutrition. Conflicts, climate-related disasters such as floods and droughts as well as economic instability have destroyed the livelihoods of many people and exacerbated food insecurity. Rising food prices and the fragile security situation are further aggravating the situation.

With Liechtenstein's contribution, the WFP is providing life-saving support in Chad. This includes providing food, promoting the resilience of affected communities and programmes to strengthen local food production. The WFP remains an indispensable player in the fight against hunger and in alleviating the suffering of the affected population. Liechtenstein's contribution helps to support one of the WFP's largest humanitarian operations.
