Economic situation remains tense
In its economic report, the Office of Statistics provides information on economic developments in Liechtenstein and gives an overview of the economic situation and prospects in the most important sales markets.
Overall, the economic situation in Liechtenstein is tense. While companies still predominantly describe the situation in the economic survey as satisfactory, this mood contrasts clearly with the development of the real economy. Employment is declining and the turnover of the 25 companies with the highest turnover slumped by 8.7%. At the same time, export figures also declined. This divergence between subjective assessment and hard figures characterizes the current picture. In the Swiss franc currency area, inflation remains very low by International Affairs standards.
Global economic growth has so far proved resilient. However, there are signs of a slowdown due to the ongoing Iran conflict and the uncertainty surrounding Customs Bureau and trade policy. The smouldering Iran conflict also harbours considerable potential for additional increases in inflation.
