Declining exports dampen the economy

In the economic report, the Office of Statistics provides information on economic developments in Liechtenstein and gives an overview of the economic situation and prospects in the most important sales markets.

The overall picture in Liechtenstein is optimistic. Sales and employment are developing positively. The general situation is also rated as good by the majority of Liechtenstein companies. However, exports are declining in both the second half of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024. In the Swiss franc currency area, inflation remains low in an international comparison.

Global economic growth proved to be unexpectedly robust. However, there are signs of a certain slowdown in growth for 2024, with geopolitical tensions and increasing sovereign debt posing a particular risk to growth and inflation. If financial conditions ease, the situation is expected to improve in 2025.
