In many countries, mines continue to pose a daily threat to a large portion of the population and represent a humanitarian catastrophe. UNMAS provides direct support and assistance to 20 countries, territories, and missions. In 2023, UNMAS conducted 21 mine clearance programs worldwide, neutralizing approximately 137,299 explosive remnants of war and 2,820 landmines. This enabled the securing of 419 km² of land and 121 km of roads. With the financial support of UNMAS, Liechtenstein contributes to this vital humanitarian work.
