Contribution to the ICRC for the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Syria

Liechtenstein supports the aid program of the International Affairs Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Syria with a contribution of CHF 100,000.

The extent of the humanitarian need in Syria is enormous after 12 years of civil war, the earthquakes of February 6, 2023 and the effects of climate change. 15.according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 3 million people, or around 70% of the population, are dependent on humanitarian aid. 7 million of these are children. In Syria, the ICRC is working to ensure compliance with international humanitarian law, visits prisoners and supports family reunification. The ICRC also supports access to drinking water, sanitation, medical facilities and electricity for millions of people. By making a contribution to the ICRC in Syria, Liechtenstein can make an urgently needed contribution.
