166 New Apartments Approved in the Second Quarter
In the second quarter of 2026, the Office of Building Construction and Spatial Planning issued 173 building permits with planned construction costs totaling CHF 132.9 million. Compared with the previous three years, or 12 quarters (comparison period), the number of permits is average, while the planned construction costs are above average. The number of projects was in line with the average for the comparison period, while the planned construction costs were 19% higher.
In the reporting quarter, planned investments fell by CHF 14.7 million compared to the first quarter of 2026, to CHF 132.9 million. Compared to the last three years, investment intentions in the reporting quarter were above average. Planned construction costs in the residential sector were 65% above the average for the comparable period of the last 12 quarters. In the infrastructure sector, construction costs were 37% below the average for the comparable period, and in the industry and services sector, they were 57% below the average. In the agriculture and forestry sector, planned investments fell from CHF 0.08 million in the first quarter of 2026 to CHF 0.04 million in the reporting quarter.
