Rising investment intentions in the 1st quarter
In the 1st quarter of 2026, the Office of Building Construction and Spatial Planning issued 100 building permits with planned construction costs totaling CHF 147.5 million. Compared to the previous three years or 12 quarters (comparative period), the number of permits remains low, but the planned construction costs rose above the average for the comparative period. The number of projects was 46% below the average for the comparative period, while the planned construction costs were 26% higher.
In the quarter under review, planned investments increased by CHF 60.6 million to CHF 147.5 million compared to Q4 2025. Compared to the last three years, investment intentions in the quarter under review were above average. Planned construction costs were 383% higher in the Infrastructure segment and 13% higher in the Residential segment than the average for the same period in the last 12 quarters. In the industry and services sector, construction costs were 16% below the average for the comparative period.
