Analysis of parental employment gaps published

Employment in Liechtenstein shows clear gender-specific differences. These are caused in particular by starting a family. According to the analysis "Parenthood-related employment gaps 2024" published by the Office of Statistics, the employment rate of women drops significantly after the birth of their first child, while men remain in employment almost unchanged. The results show that, on average, women have a 60% lower level of employment after giving birth than men. This decline is partly due to a complete withdrawal from working life: Women's probability of employment falls 31% more than men's as a result of childbirth.
