Today’s Zahl-Tag provides updated figures on how many new fossil-fuel-fired heating systems are being installed and how many are being replaced by fossil-fuel-fired systems—that is, installed as so-called replacement systems.
The results of the analysis of the Office of Environment’s heating system registry show a trend toward more environmentally friendly heating systems. Although the number of new and replacement systems powered by fossil fuels has risen slightly this year, the overall trend over the past three years has been downward. The registry records heating systems that burn fossil fuels such as natural gas or heating oil for heating purposes. The registry is compiled and updated as part of the annual heating system inspections. Replacements of fossil fuel heating systems with new technologies, such as heat pumps or district heating, cannot be identified based on the data recorded in the heating system registry.
