At the end of 2023, 11,420 buildings with residential use with a total of 22,067 apartments were counted in Liechtenstein. This corresponds to an increase of 59 buildings (0.5%) and 165 apartments (0.8%) compared to the previous year.

19,138 apartments were classified as permanently occupied, i.e. they had been registered as occupied at least once in the past two years. Of the permanently occupied apartments, 18,345 were occupied on the reporting date of December 31, 2023. 793 apartments, or 4.1%, were unoccupied on the reporting date. In the previous year, 4.2% of permanently occupied apartments were unoccupied on the reporting date.
