The Land Register incorporates real estate and the rights in rem that exist over it to ensure legal security.

The Commercial Registers primary task is to ensure the legal security of commercial transactions by disclosing the private law relationships, in particular the liability and representation relationships of natural and legal persons.

The Judicial Affairs Division deals, inter alia, with civil law, including personal and corporate law; criminal law and criminal procedure; execution- and insolvency law; procedural law in civil, criminal and administrative law; mediation; data protection; legal assistance in criminal and civil matters, extradition and transit, official liability, administration of justice and legal aid.

In the Foundation Supervision and Anti-Money Laundering Division, the Foundation Supervisory Authority  (STIFA) and the Register of Beneficial Owners and the Central Register of Accounts are located. STIFA supervises charitable foundations as well as private-benefit foundations that have voluntarily submitted to its supervision. The register of beneficial owners and the central register of accounts serve to combat money laundering, predicate offenses to money laundering, and financing of terrorism.
